REDSCAN Pro Series

The New Generation of LiDAR Security Sensors

Optex redscan pro large perimeter protection

Precise and reliable target detection

The award-winning OPTEX REDSCAN Pro series sets the standard in intrusion detection systems. These cutting-edge detectors combine highly accurate LiDAR technology with the longest detection range in the REDSCAN series and are EN Grade-3 compliant, offering exceptional performance for both outdoor and indoor security. With advanced detection capabilities, customisable long-range zones, and robust environmental resistance, they deliver effective and reliable intrusion detection for a wide range of applications.

Read on to learn more about REDSCAN Pro and make an enquiry. Or, check out the rest of the REDSCAN LiDAR security system series, including our shorter-range, REDSCAN Mini, grade 3 advanced security alarm.

How the REDSCAN Pro series fits into a multi-layered security system

The REDSCAN Pro works in similar ways throughout a multi-layer security system. The major layers of a physical security system, from the outside in, are the perimeter, approach, building exterior and interior. REDSCAN can be deployed in one, some or all of these layers to create the ultimate detection solution.

FAQ

The Redscan series generate a Redwall Event Code. This is a simple ASCII character code which can be sent via TCP/IP (for example to a VMS). The Redscan Event Code communication can be set as follows:

  • UDP Broadcast
  • UDP Unicast
  • UDP Broadcast & TCP
  • UDP Unicast & TCP

In addition to the above, with the RLS-2020 there is also an HTTPS integration.

It can be downloaded from the following link: http://www.optex.co.jp/e/redwall/download/

This function is used to reduce false alarms in harsh environments such as fog, snow, etc. There are three possible modes: Enabled, Enhanced, and Disabled.

  • Enabled means false alarms are reduced in foggy conditions and can achieve a well-balanced detection capability.
  • Enhanced mode is used to reduce false alarms, in the case of heavy fog or snow. But, the response time in generating the alarms will be longer.
  • Disable mode is for applications that require a quick response (eg: PTZ camera control) and less harsh conditions.

Environmental Disqualification (D.Q.) output will be activated in case of extreme weather conditions. OPTEX strongly recommends Redscan users to monitor DQ output for reliable operation.

Normally operating temperature of Redscan Pro is -20 to +60 degree. With the optional accessory RLS-LWVH, heated lens, it can operate in very cold environments down to -40 degree thanks to a transparent conductive film heater. Please note that when using the Heated lens up to level 3 (-30 degree) it can be powered over PoE+, at level 4 to defrost the lens at -40 degree, the REDSCAN PRO will require to be an external DC power supply.

A large selection of our intrusion detection sensors can be custom painted, including our LiDAR range, our short range outdoor PIRs and dual tech sensors such as the BX, VX and WX series. Some of our sensors though, like our IR beams and beam towers cannot be customised as the housing has been treated with special UV resistant material and the properties of the material would be affected by any coating. It is recommended that you check with your distributor or directly with OPTEX whether your sensor is suitable for customised painting.

What do we mean by customised painting ?

Customising the sensor means the body of the detector will be coated with either a single colour or with a pattern simulating the background surface where the sensor will be installed. Any colour variation and many design options can be achieved: the coating can replicate a wood texture, foliage, marble or natural stone, metal, carbon fibre and many more.

Can all the parts of the sensors be coated?

The plastic housing can, but some parts might not be suitable for custom paint, usually the parts next to the lens which are made of a different material

When can a customisation be done?

The customisation is only available to newly purchased sensors and requires on average 10 working days. Once you have selected the right sensors suitable for your protection needs you should analyse the precise locations where they will be installed in order to establish what will be the background like. At this stage share with our team the RAL code for the colour or a high res image of the background where the sensor will be installed. The process of customisation is arranged by OPTEX.

Don’ts

We strongly recommend that you don’t try customising the sensors yourself; applying spray paint will not work, it will damage the sensor and it will invalidate the warranty. The cost for the customisation of the sensor varies based on order and type of sensor. Contact our sales team to find out more and discuss your needs.

There is no maximum height, the REDSCAN Pro can be mounted up high on a building to protect the walls, façade and windows. Please note the length of detection will be as specified in the detection range. Please note in vertical mode, the sensor head should point down to the ground.

Yes it is, but please note the detection pattern for each REDSCAN Pro is in rectangle so it would create a 100m x 100m square (RLS-50100V) and 60m x 60m (RLS-3060V) and not a circular detection area.

Yes, once mounted, the REDSCAN Pro head can be rotated to suit the required angle. The head can rotate up/down 95 degrees and sideways 5 degrees. In this sofware setting change Redscan pro tilt direction to Auto.
